morning : 7:30place : hostel
oh shit late again, class at 8!! as usual forget turning off the fan, run to the bathroom. brush brush ..... tap tap tap .... water is going as long as you brush.... running again not turning the tap off properly..... its leaking over there.... some one tells you to turn it OFF properly .. give them a lecture on how important time is but never turn the tap OFF properly... take books run off to class.. forget the fan again in the room... now for some weird reason even the light is on... forget it ...
morning 8:00
place : classroom
all the lights and fans are on ... students only in the first few benches( come on its first hour).... waste the electricity .. who cares its college's property... even the teachers least bothered..
the morning session continues class slowly fills up but still some fans and lights are uselessly ON.... this goes on till 12 in the afternoon.... end of classes at least for some branches .... everyone comes out.... forget the lights and fans... some eco friendly person in the class... waits for everyone to go and turns them OFF..( provided he or she isn't busy)... pass by the classes where the main isn't OFF... mate, who don't care the cleaner would switch it OFF when he comes... electricity waste again...but who is bothered??
back to the hostel... done with lunch.. talking with friends and washing your hands keep the tap ON for more than the time you actually need it... now for a bath... aaram se...
background music along with your song :water going down the drain...
room mein: 2 in the afternoon ...
you : hey switch on the light. i am not able to see properly...
roomie : oh hey. yeah switch it on.. this room's ventilation sucks seriously... btw such a long bath??... must have emptied the tank's whole water...
you: chod na yaar that warden never turns the flow OFF,even when the tank is overflowing.. who cares da...
roomie: mmmmmm... yea who cares...
this was just half the day of a student's life. so all the wastage was avoidable but yet we didn't. imagine the amount of water and electricity wasted if all the students and teachers in the college included. imagine the situation if we include all the colleges in the city. adding to that the amount of these resources which go waste in normal households is also on par with this amount.
do you really feel that we can just waste the resources like that just because we pay for it?? no its really wrong to even think that way. this planet isn't just ours.
i know everyone is in a hurry when going to class or whatever work you got to do but people come on.. it just takes few seconds to turn the tap off properly and switch the fan off in your room. charging the phone or laptop continuously even when they don't need it..... it just takes few seconds to get up and switch it OFF....can't you spare a minute in protecting the resources of which you will always be in need of.. just think for a second if you don't have any of this stuff....
what if everything just gets over.. no electricity, no water... how would life be ?? no charging to your phone, laptop,no water to bath properly, no gas to cook the food, got to eat everything raw without even washing them....life will just go back to early man stage...
it's just that every drop of water which we can save counts, every second of the time we switch off the fan or light when you don't need them matters. how many of us will actually switch off the fan and light when we go out of a room?? honestly speaking the number is less. we all know that we should save the electricity but at that instant we are a little lazy... our mind thinks "its ok. just a few minutes wont make much of a difference.."
ironically everyone knows how to save the resources but most of us are either too busy or too lazy to save them. come on guys we might need the same resources in our future. if not for your future generations at least save those few drops of water for your own future.
Nothing big is being expected from you or me. We just need to do this for ourselves. The next time you go out please remember to switch OFF the lights and fans in that room. when you turn OFF a tap, look back at it just once and check if its turned OFF properly. this might seem tiny right now but imagine when every person does the same thing. the amount that gets saved is huge. it's in our hands to save our means of survival, our mother earth and we need to save it in any small or big way we can.
these steps are just tiny ways of saving her.but its just like an old saying
"all great things have small beginnings"

so, finally came up with a blog as no one is listening to u??? OK, now onwards I'll switch off the fan(provided there are no clothes to be dried in the room) and light while going out.
ReplyDeleteBut, my laptop needs continuous charging ;-)
